Two Boys Prep Hockey Players Win USA Hockey National Title
Two Shady Side Academy boys' prep ice hockey players have won a national title! Senior Jake Lydon and junior Max Devorris were both members of the Mid-State Mustangs team that won the USA Hockey Tier II Youth 18U AAA National Championship on Sunday, April 6, in Wayne, N.J. The Mustangs captured the title with a resounding 6-1 victory over the Delaware Ducks in the championship game.
Lydon led the Mustangs to victory in the title game with a hat trick, scoring one goal in each period with ferocious left-handed blasts. “We didn’t come here to just make it or get to the semifinals or even the finals,” Lydon said. “We came here to win the whole thing. It’s amazing, the best feeling ever, knowing that I had such a big game in a big game. My teammates just kept getting the puck to me and I just kept scoring.”
Devorris will return to the Mid-Mustangs next year as they attempt to hold on to the national title in 2015.

Congratulations, Jake and Max!
